Easy API testing
In some test cases, to cover scenarios, retrieving data from API is required. Today, this is something that users can achieve using a custom JS step and fetch() function, but this requires code.
To simplify this process, it would be nice to add an extra step like Request API where you will be able to define a method, URL, and parameters for making requests. Using variables within this step should also be possible. Storing the response as a variable could also give a lot of flexibility to users.
This could be a first step to implementing more advanced API testing for BugBug.

Very much needed feature. The possibility for our product owners to set an X number of test scenario’s and for our devs to be able to validate any change to an API against those scenario’s.

This is a nice feature to have, an API step, then be able to check/compare the response (json, regex, ...) as it's already done for basic assert step.

At this moment, we don't do any API or BE testing using BugBug. New features are always great, but if I were to select between API testing or the rework for easier and more flexible recording of a test, the API one would be way at the bottom of the list for us.
We see BugBug's biggest strength how approachable and easy it is to create frontend oriented automated tests using the recording feature, and API testing with the tool sort of deviates from that mindset due to the knowledge of BE testing required from QA colleagues.
Of course, it all depends on your entire userbase requirements and not just mine (+ on the complexity of the feature requests), I could be an outliner here not focusing on BE testing automation yet. 😅
But I would definitely be sad to see you advance on new API testing features instead of the more flexible recording feature I've been kinda hoping to see for more than half a year, even before opening the feedback hub here. ^^

We plan to ship it next year but there is no specific ETA here.

FOr me it would be enough to drop the necessity to open the URL to execute the api-only test :) We have some tests that just do apicalls, and apicall itself takes fraction of the time of the opening some random page (which is the mandatory step)
